Motorola RAZR V3x Mobile Phone Reviews

The new Motorola RAZR V3x has to be nicest looking 3G phone to be released this year! The V3x is an upgrade from the earlier model the V3. Motorola are also releasing the V3i which is another upgrade form the V3 but will not have the same specification or 3G technology.

The design of the V3x is much like that of the V3 just a tad bit chunkier as Motorola have had to fit a whole load of stuff in! The features of the V3x include a cool 2 megapixel camera, with up to 8x zoom! To compliment this cool camera there is a 256k colour internal screen which will allow you to view your images and videos brilliantly. On the V3x there is also a secondary camera which is located on the inner part of the flip; this camera is mainly used for 2-way video calling.

The V3x has Bluetooth for wireless connectivity to a Bluetooth headset or Bluetooth device. Bluetooth isn't just for driving as you can also use Bluetooth to sync with your PC/Laptop so you can transfer your images and music to and from your phone. One of the worst things about the V3 was that there wasn't enough memory to store a decent amount of ringtones, pictures videos etc. But don't worry Motorola realized this and have given the V3x 64Mb of internal memory which can also be upgraded with the use of a TransFlash memory card; they are currently available up to 512Mb. Another thing we found useful was a function called “Advanced speaker-independent voice recognition” it allows you to state a number/name and get connected without pre-recording that information.

The V3x now supports the following media files; AAC+, MPEG4, WMV, WMA, MP3 and Real Video files. There is also now support for video recording as well as playback.

I stupidly took out my first 18mths contact I'm stuck with this phone until next year! Never again! I have sent it back twice. First time it was replaced, second time they found 33 faults! It turns off and on, on it's own. Have to use speaker when talking - so privacy is out of the question! I have at least four friends who have had exactly the same problems and even the customer care person said that he would not touch this phone!!

This phone has a nice crisp camera but this seems to be the only good thing about it. I have had nothing but trouble with this phone, It turns itself off when ever it feels like it The Bluetooth function is a nightmare as it never seems to be able to find any other devices. I sent it back for repair they sent it back saying it was a software problem and has now been fixed. It had not as all the same problems are still happening. I have friends who are also having the same problems with this phone. Do yourself a favour and don't even bother with this phone you will only end up disappointed.

This is a FANTASTIC phone! The camera is crisp and clear - it takes great up close shots with the macro mode. The sound quality is superb too, especially with the headphones. The phone looks really smart too. Although there are some slimmer 3G phones out..

Well, I started using this phone after my V3 and SLVR L7. It was not what I expected. My V3 was made of a better material. I am shocked that Motorola would screw its customers by making a cheaper quality phone.

I find the other reviewers absolutely atrocious if it's not only the same guy posting under different names. This phone is TOPS. I give it an 11/10. The voice recognition is just fabulous. Both my wife & I have different nicknames for our family and friends and we were able to type them in, in a flash and set them all under the same numbers and then she just calls whoever she wants and so do I WITHOUT going through the tedious setting up of voice recognition for each of us individually. The phone looks and feels great and the screen is the BEST mobile phone screen I have ever had. Games play on it fantastic. Speakerphone is great and I can time my international calls. Love the keys and the phone is great to hold and has a very smooth feel. Much better reception than my previous V3 and far less dropped calls if any. My wife's native tongue is NOT ENGLISH yet the phone has no trouble recognising her voice commands FIRST TIME. The voice activation is SUPERB and a first. I have 2 V3's as well as this V3X and I'm very, very, very happy with the excellent user friendliness and cutting edge technology in this phone. As well their customer support is very helpful. Go knock Nokia. The last time I used a Nokia phone was the LAST time and this phone also kills the Sony K750i which I also own.

Very definitely the worst phone I have ever used. After 3 months of trying to hang in there I've had enough. My old T610 with its partially-working joystick is better than this pathetic effort. I echo every sentiment here and will add that Motorola could perhaps invest in a dictionary and employ someone with an adult's vocabulary to program their predictive text. Or, better yet, just put T9 on the thing. Hey, Motorola, read the reviews of, I don't know, everybody. iTap is now officially rhyming slang.

I have experienced exactly the same problem with the related Motorola V3i, When answering a phone, or sometimes just when opening the clamshell, the screen goes white. You can't answer the call or access any of the menus. Also, when on USB connection, I have experienced complete resets out of the blue. (having to enter sim pin code again etc).

I have had this phone for a three months now. Its been quite a disappointment to be honest. Firstly, the 2 megapixel camera isn't as good as it sounds-it really isn't the same as a camera, and although the photos are very big, they're of pretty poor quality. The flash wipes everyone out and is basically useless and the focussing shifter thing is too small to really use at all. secondly the mp3 player wont play tunes bought from iTunes ( I thought Motorola were into that kind of thing, but obviously they're not) and the mp3 player only recognizes half of the tracks, as a result you get a lot of songs on your mp3 player called track1. track 2 etc from 'unknown artist' and its a bit of a pain to use. Finally, the phone is very flimsy, the V3 was made of that fancy brushed steel , but no metal here, just very bendy plastic. When I text, the back of the phone flexes about and drives me nuts! As it came free with my contract I really shouldn't complain too much. But it definitely doesn't deserve the hype. Oh and its not that small either, my Nokia 7600 (really old 3g phone) is shorter and the same thickness.

I agree with Richard's review. I have just bought this phone. Guess what ? It's going back and I am willing to spend the extra to get a brand new Samsung D600 to replace my old D600 which I traded in for this RAZR disappointment. Is it that bad ? Yes ! 1. Build Quality. The flip is loose on the left side so there are creaky noises even when the phone is shut. Richard Scott is right about the sharp edges of the so called 'smart keys' 2.UI - what is Motorola thinking ? The menu and the UI ( now Linux based ) are illogical - double icons for the video camera and the camera. To send a text is not the easiest thing in the world especially if you are not using one of your contacts stored in the Phonebook. Nothing is very clearly set out so that you have to search for functions e.g. accessing the memory card, to turn on the LED Flash for photos. I am not too concerned about the 'look' of the icons as many reviews have said that their cons could be better- I am more interested in the practicality of them - they fail to achieve what other phone makers achieve with layout and access ,in my opinion. 3.2 MP camera - disappointing at the least and shameful for a 2 MP camera. I thought the Nokia N70 was bad ,this outdoes the N70 with its bad picture quality. 4.Video Camera .My other Samsung E350 with its VGA camera takes much better, crisper videos than this V3x. The quality is shockingly poor. 5. Smart keys, etc on the side of the phone. Positioned VERY badly and it is irritating to keep pressing them when you are using the phone. The Pros.. The phonebook is the ONLY saving grace with this phone. I will only miss the great phonebook - very versatile and very spacious with multiple entries of different types. I really wanted to give Motorola a chance again after my previous bad experience with another of their phone models recently because I wanted a phone compatible with the US and I wanted to support a US phone maker too. However, I must return to Samsung now .

Terrible phone, after having the fantastic V3, I assumed that the V3X would only improve on a great design how wrong was I. Sadly, the cheap plastic feel of the phone which creaks in your ear when using it really creates a bad feel. Terrible battery life (one day max) Poor Bluetooth functionality (car kit has to be re-synced manually with the phone every day one way PC to phone transfers). No software (previous version that came with the V3 won t recognise the phone). Stupid voice recognition Every phone I've had lets you assign voice tags to frequently used numbers to use as voice dialling essential when driving. Now the V3X tries to use speech recognition to dial any number in your phone book. This is an absolute nightmare as you need to remember exactly how each name is written down in your address book. Most names are not recognised & you have to repeat it over & over & still fail. Camera & voice dial buttons are in a really poor position meaning that it is really easy to press them accidentally while using the phone. Phone switches itself off for no apparent reason. Open or close the flip too fast & the phone freezes with a white screen you have to take the battery off to re-start. Poor build quality - screen moves let to right side buttons have sharp edges & rattle about rear battery cover loose & rattles/creaks.
