The Siemens SL55 was the first of its kind with the sliding down keypad. It was a good design which really made people go out and get one. It was all every one could of wanted a small phone that could take pictures and looked good while doing it.
The SL55 has a 4096 colour screen which doesn’t match up to mobiles today, but still gives good quality. To be able to take pictures with the SL55 you need to get a plug in camera the Siemens QuickPic camera, which are available for about £35.
You can send and receive the pictures that you take via MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) to other compatible handsets. The phone had a phonebook with capacity for up to 500 entries which is quite substantial. You can download extra games using Java technology. The overall weight of the phone is a mere 79g which is practically nothing! The Sl55 is Triband and will work in America.
