The P1i is Sony Ericssons latest edition to their “PDA” range of phones, the previous model to this was the Sony Ericsson P990i and that wasn't as good as we had hoped for. Maybe that is why Sony Ericsson has announced the P1i a lot sooner than we were thought. Let's hope this one doesn't follow the same pattern as the P990i.
The fiddly full QWERTY keypad is out and is replaced by this “BlackBerry” style SureType keypad. Having two letters to one key, making using the keypad a lot easier. As always the P1i still has handwriting recognition but takes a little getting use to. As far as a business phone goes the P1i has a range of office applications, Business card scanning so save you time when you want to add a new contact to your organiser. With regards to connectivity, it has every possible method available. There is WiFi allowing you to connect to thousands of hot spots around the world, infrared, Bluetooth and USB. And it is also 3G allowing you to make and receive video calls, as well as receive data quicker than before.
The P1i has two cameras one is primarily used for video calling and the other is a normal camera. This is a nice 3.15 Megapixel camera, with auto focus, video capture and playback. There is also a flash so you can take your images in those not so will lit areas. There is a Music Player and FM Radio built in just in case whilst you're bored and you're away from the office. As for memory, the P1i has a nice 160Mb of internal memory and the ability to expand the memory using a M2 card, a 512Mb card is included.
Other features include a built in handsfree, a battery talk time of up to 10 hours and a standby of 440 Hours! The P1i is also tri-band.
Compare the Sony Ericsson P1i with another phone...
